In June 2006 CPL Racing set a European drag racing record by
producing the fastest 1/4 mile run in a production front wheel
drive car. Their CPL turbo-charged Honda Civic Type-R launched
with a 1.75 second 60ft sprint on the way to passing the Santa
Pod quarter mile line in a fantastic 11.397 seconds at 129 mph!

Virtual Racer has been keen to demonstrate just how close it could
come to predicting that record breaking time, and then perhaps help
CPL Racing to go even faster in the future. The CPL team have been
kind enough to supply us with measured data from their record run,
plus all the necessary information to build a model of their race
car.
Using only the standard, and simple, data normally required by
Virtual Racer, including real dynamometer of the 420+ hp Type-R, a
model of the car was built and run up the virtual drag strip.
When using our soon to be available drag slick tyre model the
Virtual racer CPL Type-R produced a result that was over 99%
accurate to the official timing!
